Engine Giveaway Program Nearing Completion
![]() MARTIN, MI- Engine Pro’s engine giveaway at US 131 Motorsports Park will soon be awarded to its well deserving owner. With only three races left in this points series competition is strong. Those eligible are racers who entered into the track’s bracket racing series in either the Auto Value Top ET or Extreme Salon Modified classes and who are in the top 10 in point standings at the conclusion of the race on September 6. All qualified racers will have their names placed in a hat and the names will be drawn until only one name is left, the winner. This engine will be awarded during the 3rd Annual Funny Car Nationals presented by McDonald’s on September 13. “Without the support of our sponsors who are dedicated to our bracket racers and US 131, this would not have been possible,” stated US 131 Motorsports Park’s marketing director Stephanie Peterson. Those sponsors include Engine Pro, Dart Machinery supplied the block, CNC heads and a manifold for the 565 cubic inch Big Block Chevy. The labor for the assembly will be supplied by the well respected Performance Engineering of Jenison. Additional components include a Melling Performance billet oil pump, JE Pistons, Hastings Racing performance piston rings, Oliver billet performance connecting rods, ARP fasteners, Ferrea performance valves, Comp Cams valve train components, performance crankshaft from SCAT, engine bearings from Clevite, performance gaskets from Victor-Reinz, oil pan from Stef’s Performance’s B&B Performance line, complete rear-end rebuild from Weller Auto Parts and Pro Finish Powder Coating. Pro Finish will be powder coating parts of the engine and as a consolation prize they are offering a $250 gift certificate to a racer who does not win the engine. The engine is complete with the exception of the fuel or ignition systems. A grand prize that any racer would be happy to walk away with and soon someone will. Nine of the originally scheduled 16 races have been completed. There were three races rained out and three left to go before the Funny Car Nationals on September 13. Looking at the bottom of the field in both classes, there is still a lot of room for racers to become eligible and those who may not. Points are tightening and competition is sure to get tougher. Two points races are scheduled for this weekend, September 23-24. For a complete list of racers who are eligible and a listing of events, please visit www.us131msp.com or call the track office at 269.672.7800.
