Blue Rodeo and Johnny Reid will Highlight eMax Drag Racing Series in Grand Bend

Two of Canada’s biggest musical acts will kick off the eMax Nitro Jam concert series schedule Friday night, June 2nd when Johnny Reid and Blue Rodeo will take to the stage in support of the Mopar Canadian Nationals at Grand Bend Motorplex.

This concert is the first of four live music entertainment events that will make up the eMax Nitro Jam…a unique concert series to be held in conjunction with selected dates on the eMax Drag Racing Series schedule.

Blue Rodeo is one of the most successful and well-known contemporary Canadian bands, having released 10 studio albums, one live album, a greatest hits collection and a DVD. In 2006 they were inducted into the Canadian Music Industry Hall of Fame and nominated for two Junos, the Canadian equivalent of the Grammy’s.

Johnny Reid is a Canadian vocal sensation in the country music industry as well. It is not uncommon to see him on Brad Paisley’s “Time Well Wasted” tour or making major festival appearances at Camrose, Havelock and at the Calgary Stampede. Reid’s current album has already generated four Canadian chart hits with “You Still Own Me,” “Sixty to Zero” and his number one hits “Missing an Angel" and "Time Flies". His 2005 CCMA nomination as Rising Star of the Year and his 2005 CCMA Award for Independent Song of the Year for “You Still Own Me” recognized his ability as a songwriter.

“I’m really looking forward to this event,” IHRA President Aaron Polburn said. “I think a lot of fans will take advantage of this opportunity. Where else can you see a great concert and professional qualifying session all in one shot, for one ticket price? Our Friday Night show was great to begin with, now add two great acts like Blue Rodeo and Johnny Reid and it gets even better. This is going to be a lot of fun.”

The Friday night concert at Grand Bend Motorplex is just the first of four eMax Nitro Jam concerts on the eMax Drag Racing Series schedule. Concerts are also scheduled to take place at the Torco Race Fuels Northern Nationals in Martin, Mich., the Skull Gear World Nationals at Norwalk Raceway Park and the eMax World Finals at Rockingham Dragway. Artists for the final three concerts have yet to be announced.
