MOPAR SPONSORS IHRA SUMMIT SUPER SERIES BOX WORLD CHAMPIONSHIP

Center Line, Mich. — Mopar is proud to announce that the brand has teamed up with the IHRA to take the IHRA Summit SuperSeries World Championship to the next level in 2006. Mopar’s sponsorship will include a Ray Barton-prepared Mopar Performance 528 HEMI® Crate engine for the 4-link dragster built by Race Tech Race Cars, which will be given to the Box World Champion.

“Mopar’s return to IHRA Drag Racing is very exciting,” said Jon Clark, Manager of Mopar Performance Parts and Direct Connection. “Working with the IHRA on an event such as the Box World Championship is a way to highlight the role that the Mopar HEMI engine has had in drag racing’s history. The HEMI has been a part of drag racing for many years and having it as the heart and soul of the car that is being presented to the Box World Champion is truly an honor.”

All IHRA Summit Super Series participants will race for a Performance Rating (P.R.), which is figured on the average amount of wins in 30 runs. Each track will determine a P.R. winner, who will then run against the P.R. winner from other tracks in their division. The winner, along with two lottery winners with a performance rating of over .500, will be sent to the IHRA World Finals in Rockingham, N.C., on October 20–22, 2006 and compete in the Elite 8.

The Elite 8 racers from each division will compete in the nationally televised event for sponsor prizes, including the grand prize of a complete 4-link dragster built by Race Tech Race Cars in Burlington, N.C., for the Box World Champion. The car, equipped with the Barton prepared 528 HEMI Crate engine, will be displayed at selected national events.
