6th Annual Moser Axle Mania Caps Moser Engineering’s 20th Anniversary
By Michael Beard
Moser Axle Mania enters its sixth year as the premiere unique Sportsman shootout, once again offering the largest single winner’s check of any special Sportsman program, made possible by Rob and Susan Moser at Moser Engineering. The champion will receive $22,500 for his efforts, the lion’s share of a staggering $51,000 total purse that pays at least $500 to each of the 32 qualifiers. Past winners include such household sportsman names as Todd Comer, Rickey Adkins, Slate Cummings, Gil Carty, Jr., and Glenn Ferguson.
Participants qualify by using Moser Axles and earning points at national and divisional events. The top four drivers in each Sportsman class make the show, in addition to four Wild Card entries drawn from the highest point totals of each of the fifth place finishers, for a total of 32 drivers. The race is conducted on a handicapped Full Tree, on the eighth mile. Each class eliminates down to one driver, leaving the “Great Eight” laddered to battle toward the huge $22,500 check, television coverage, a unique Moser Axle Mania trophy, and one name scribed indelibly into the record books.
This season finds the Moser Axle Mania title decided at a new venue, namely Norwalk Raceway Park, as park of the Skull Shine World Nationals, presented by AC Delco.
“It’s extremely exciting for us to be able to host the Moser Axle Mania Shootout at Norwalk Raceway Park,” offered Jon Bennett, Marketing Director for Moser Engineering. “Moser Engineering is based in Portland, Ind., only about four hours southwest of Norwalk. Because it’s so close, the majority of our friends and employees will be able to come out and see what this event is all about. Norwalk is a first class facility, and it’s an opportunity to put this program on center stage. From a manufacturer’s standpoint, it’s one of the best.”
Moser Engineering celebrates its 20th Anniversary this year, which adds to the already special event. This longtime IHRA sponsor goes out of its way to treat the Moser Axle Mania participants like kings.
“The whole program was put together to reward and thank the sportsman racers for being our customers,” said Bennett. “There will be a shindig Saturday for all the participating racers, their family and friends. Our employees will get a chance to meet the people that are using the products they make, and the racers will get to meet the people who make the products. The participants will also have access to the Buzzard’s Nest, where they can watch the races.”
Moser Engineering’s 20th Anniversary celebration also extends some benefits to all Moser customers, and heralds some surprises for the future.
“We’ve offered 10% discounts on orders placed at the track at eMax Drag Racing Series national events this year,” noted Bennett. “We’ll also be releasing some new products by SEMA. I can’t say any more at this time, but it’s been a big undertaking, and we think that racers and chassis builders are really going to like our new offerings.”
The aftermarket world is a competitive field, and there are many quality companies servicing the motorsports community. With the solid reputation, great turnaround time, customer service, contingency postings, and $51,000 up for grabs in the Moser Axle Mania program, though, why go anywhere else?
